1. Trump seeks to make the most of a historic Georgia mugshot
- The photo of Donald Trump scowling definitely into the camera in the Fulton County Sheriff's office will go down in history.
- The mugshot came after his fourth arrest in five months.
- Mr Trump posted on X for the first time since January 2021 to share the address of his website and the mugshot with an all-capital letters caption: "Election interference. Never surrender!"
- Within hours, his campaign website was selling mugshot-branded mugs, t-shirts and drink coolers.

2. US faces more interest rate rises to cool inflation
- The US Federal Reserve chairman has said the central bank will continue to raise interest rates "if appropriate" as inflation remains "too high".
- Jerome Powell told an annual gathering of central bankers that the pace of price rises had fallen from a peak.
- US inflation hit 3.2% in the year to July while the key interest rate is 5.25% - the highest in 22 years - and comes after 11 consecutive rate rises since early 2022.

3. Bodies and flight recorders recovered at Wagner boss Prigozhin's jet crash site
- Russia says 10 bodies and flight recorders have been recovered from the scene of a jet crash presumed to have killed Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin.
- The plane crashed near Moscow on Wednesday, prompting speculation that a bomb or a missile was to blame.
- Claims that the Kremlin gave an order to kill Prigozhin were a "complete lie", says Vladimir Putin.
- Prigozhin, once a Putin loyalist, led an aborted armed revolt by his mercenary fighters in June.
