- Russia's president has said members of the Wagner mercenary group were fully funded by the state.
- According to Vladimir Putin, Wagner was given 86.262 roubles ($1bn) from May 2022 to May 2023 alone for salaries and bonuses, which came from the defence ministry and state budget.

2. Trump heard on tape discussing 'highly confidential, secret' documents
- An audio recording in which Donald Trump appears to acknowledge keeping a classified document after leaving the white House has been obtained by US media.
- In the recording, the former president is heard riffling through papers and saying: "This is highly confidential."
- Mr Trump has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of mishandling sensitive documents.

3. Ukraine war: Russia executed 77 civilians detained by its forces
- Russian forces summarily executed 77 civilians they had arbitrarily detained during Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
- Another mail detainee died from torture, inhumane conditions and denial of medical care.
- The UN documented 864 individual cases of arbitrary detention by Russia since it launched its invasion last February.
