1. WHO says Covid-19 no longer is a global health emergency
WHO’s International Health Regulations Emergency Committee discussed the pandemic at its 15th meeting on Covid-19, and WHO Director-General  concurred that the public health emergency of international concern declaration should end.
A PHEIC creates an agreement between countries to abide by WHO’s recommendations for managing the emergency.
Each country, in turn, declares its own public health emergency – declarations that carry legal weight. Countries use them to marshal resources and waive rules in order to ease a crisis.

2. Canadian province of Alberta declares wildfire emergency
- Alberta has declared a state of emergency after wildfires spread across the western CAnadian province, driving nearly 25,000 people from their homes.
- Faced with more than 100 wildfires, Alberta's Premier Danielle Smith called the situation unprecedented.
- Residents of Edson were told to leave immediately.

3. Ukraine war: Russia accused of using phosphorus bombs in Bakhmut
- Ukraine has accused Russia of attacking the besieged city of Bakhmut with phosphorus munitions.
- In drone footage released by Ukraine's military, Bakhmut can be seen ablaze as what appears to be white phosphorus rains down on the city.
- White phosphorus weapons are not banned, but their use in civilian areas is considered a war crime.
