1. Russian balloons over Kyiv in a new wave of attacks

- Ukraine's army has said Russia fired 36 cruise missiles on Thursday, a day after six apparently radar-reflecting balloons were spotted over Kyiv.

- The missiles fired from land and sea killed a woman and hit critical infrastructure.

- Ukraine noted there had been a change in Russian tactics, in an apparent reference to the balloons above Kyiv.

2. UK space launch: Dislodged fuel filter blamed for rocket failure

- The first ever satellite mission from the UK failed to launch last month because a rocket fuel filter had become dislodged.

- A rocket engine overheated in turn, leading to the loss of the rocket and satellites it was carrying.

- Virgin Orbit sent up a jumbo jet carrying the rocket from Cornwall on 9 January. The aircraft returned safely.

3. US-China chip war: ASML says China employee stole data

- Major computer chip equipment maker ASML says a former employee in China stole information about its technology.

- The Dutch firm says it has since reported the breach to authorities in the Netherlands and the US.

- However, the company added that it does not "believe that the misappropriation is material to our business."
