1. MH17: Human rights court will hear Netherland's case against Russia

- The European Court of Human Rights has confirmed it will hear a Dutch case against Russia over the downing of flight MH17 in 2014.

- All 298 people on the Malaysia Airlines flight from Amsterdam were killed when it was shot down by a missile fired by Moscow-backed Ukrainian separatists.

- The Dutch government argues that Russia's disinformation about Moscow's role in the incident is a violation of the relatives' human rights.

- Russia denies the allegations.

2. Self-styled spiritual leader John de Ruiter charged with sex crimes

- A messianic leader of a multi-million dollar spiritual organisation in western Canada has been charged with four counts of sexual assault.

- Mr de Ruiter told certain female members of his group that he "was directed by a spirit to engage in sexual activity with them, and that engaging in sexual activity with him will provide them an opportunity to achieve a state of higher being or spiritual enlightenment".

- Police believe there may be more victims and have asked them to come forward.

3. Europe's mission to Jupiter's icy moons ready for launch

- Europe is about to undertake one of its grandest ever space missions, to explore the icy moons of Jupiter.

- The Juice satellite is going through final testing in Toulouse, France, after which it will be shipped to the launch site in South America.

- The six-tonne spacecraft will make a series of flybys of Callisto, Ganymede and Europa, using an advanced package of instruments to investigate whether any of these worlds are habitable.

- This might sound fanciful. The Jovian system is in the cold, outer reaches of the Solar System, far from the Sun and receiving just one twenty-fifth of the light falling on Earth.
