1. Ukraine war: US says Iran now Russia's 'top military backer'
- Russia and Iran's relationship has warmed to a fully fledged defence partnership.
- Russia is giving an unprecedented level of military support.
- The US has seen reports that the two countries are considering joint production of lethal drones.
- Australia has announced it is sanctioning 3 Iranians and 1 Iranian business for supplying Russia with drones to use against Ukraine.

2. Bangladesh accused of violent crackdown on free speech
- Bangladesh journalist Shafiul Islam Kajol, known as Kajol, says he was held in an underground cell for 53 days, where he alleges he was tortured.
- Kajol chose to talk to the BBC in the same week security forces clashed with members of the opposition Bangladesh National Party (BNP) in the capital Dhaka, ahead of mass anti-government protests on Saturday - the country's Human Rights Day.
- The BNP is calling for people to take to the streets to demonstrate against the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League party.

3. Nobel Peace Prize: Russia laureate 'told to turn down award'
- A Russian human rights activist has told the BBC that he was ordered to turn down the Nobel Peace Prize by the Russian authorities.
- Yan Rachinsky is from Memorial alongside the Ukrainian human rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties, and Ales Bialiatski, who is in prison in Belarus.
- For more than 30 years, Memorial worked on uncovering the fates of the victims of Soviet political repression. It also exposed human rights abuses in present-day Russia, before being forced to close.
