- The vote count in Nevada is neck and neck, while Georgia's race will be settled by a run-off election next month.

2. Air pollution: Uncovering the dirty secret behind BP's bumper profits
- After the BBC's film was released, Iraq's Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar Ismail, pledged that all flaring from the Rumaila oil field would be eliminated by 2026. But he made the statement on his last day in office, and previous targets to eliminate flaring have been repeatedly missed.
- It is not clear with whom the accountability lies for phasing out flaring.

3. Global CO2 emissions are on track to rise again
- Global carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels are on track to rise around 1% this year.
- Countries are expected to emit a total 41 billion tonnes of CO2 in 2022, with 37 billion tonnes from burning fossil fuels and 4 billion tonnes from uses of land like deforestation.
- It is difficult to predict emissions in coming years due to uncertainties around countries' longer-term response to the pandemic and Russian petrol crunch.
