1. Chhawla rape: India shocked as men sentenced to death freed
- 10 years ago when a 19-year-old Delhi woman was found gang raped and murdered in the fields of the neighbouring state of Haryama, it was described as a rarest of rare case.
- Indians were shocked by the news reports which detailed the brutality to which the teenager had been subjected.
- 3 men arrested for the crime were found guilty and given the death penalty by a trial court in 2014 and the Delhi High Court confirmed the sentences a few months late.
- However, on Monday the Indian Supreme Court set the men free, saying there was no cogent, clinching and clear evidence that they had committed the crime.

2. Hushpuppi: Notorious Nigerian fraudster jailed for 11 years in US
- A notorious Instagram influencer from Nigeria has been jailed for more than 11 years in the US for his role in an international fraud syndicate.
- Hushpuppi, whose real name is Ramon Abbas, was also ordered to pay $1,732,841 in restitution to 2 victims.
- The influencer rose to fame flaunting his wealthy lifestyle on his page, which boasted 2.8 million followers.

3. Italy allows migrant boat to dock but many remain stranded
- Migrants from one of four rescue boats that Italy had blocked from docking have been allowed to disembark after a week at sea, the charity that operates the vessel said.
- A total of 89 people on board the Rise Above were allowed ashore but people remain on 3 other rescue boats as Rome vows to halt irregular migrants crossing the Mediterranean.
- PM Giorgia Meloni has said she wants to stop people traffickers "deciding who enters Italy".
