- At least 153 people have died in a crush as huge Halloween crowds surged into a narrow street in South Korea's capital, Seoul.

- At least another 82 were injured in the incident in the Itaewon nightlife area which was holding its first unmasked Halloween celebrations since Covid.

- Most of the dead were teenagers or in their 20s. 20 were foreigners.

2. India bridge collapse: Hundreds plunged into river and dozens killed in Gujarat

- At least 60 people have died after a bridge collapsed in India's western state of Gujarat.

- Hundreds of people were plunged into the River Macchu in Morbi town.

- The incident comes just days after the bridge was reopened following repairs.

3. Liz Truss phone hack claim prompts calls for investigation

- The government has been urged to open an investigation into claims former prime minister Liz Truss's phone was hacked while she was foreign secretary.

- Private messages between Ms Truss and foreign officials, including about the Ukraine war, fell into foreign hands.

- Private messages exchanged between Ms Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng, her close friend whom she made chancellor when she became prime minister, were also uncovered by the alleged hack.
