- Front line positions come under regular fire as both Russia and Ukraine attempt to push forward.

- The Ukrainians move quickly to reach a destroyed farm building that they took back just a week ago. Now, they are digging trenches and carrying sandbags to fortify their new position.

2. Chinese yuan: Currency hits record lows against US dollar

- China's yuan has hit fresh record lows against the surging US dollar.

- Yuan fell to its lowest level since data first became available in 2011.

- It comes as the dollar continues to rise in value against other major currencies, after the US central bank increased interest rates again earlier this month.

3. Iran protests: Death toll rises to 76 as crackdown intensifies - rights group

- At least 76 protestors have been killed by Iranian security forces during 11 days of unrest sparked by the death of a woman in custody, activists say.

- Iran Human Rights (IHR), accused authorities of using disproportionate force and live ammunition to suppress the dissent.

- State media have put the number of dead at 41, including several security personnel, and blamed "rioters".
