1. Liz Truss pledges energy plan in a week if she becomes PM
- Liz Truss has promised to announce a plan to deal with soaring energy costs within a week if she becomes PM on Tuesday.
- However, she offered no details, saying she would need time in office first in order to finalize exact proposals.
- The 2 contenders, 1 of which will replace Boris Johnson, have come under pressure to spell out how they would protect households with rising bills, as well as give help to businesses, which are not covered by the domestic price cap (the maximum amount that energy companies are allowed to charge households for each unit of energy they use).

3. Disease warning as Pakistan death toll rises
- Aid workers warn a lack of clean drinking water is causing an increase in diseases in Pakistan, as the floods death toll passes 1200.
- Access to clean water was the biggest problem for those trying to find food and shelter, said medical charity, Medecins Sans Frontieres.
- The government met on Saturday to assess the scale of the floods which have submerged a third of the country.
